What is the story like?
Confetti begins in a small town in China, where young meimei (Harmonie He) has problems at school. It does not seem to be able to read or write, but her American teacher, Thomas (George C. Tronsrue), recognizes that it is quite smart. He intuits that Meimei has dyslexia and should be attended by a special school that can learn in the way she needs. Such schools are rare in China, and Meimei’s mother, Lan Chen (Zhu Zhu), makes a difficult decision to seek schools in the United States. Thomas calls for a service with a printer Helen McClellan (Amy Irving) so that Lan Chen and Meimei will have a place to stay in New York. But their fight is just beginning, because Lan Chen does not speak any English, and special schools require expensive tests. And then there are waiting lists. But, accepted the painful secret from his own childhood, Lan Chen decides not to give up on his daughter.
Is that good?
This low key, tireless, the touching of drama from the Chinese American Film Creator Ann Hu knows her and a little soap, but easily draws the viewer’s empathy for his characters. Confetti It can seem peaceful, “smaller” film – although the filmmakers add a race to the time element, which helps in the AMP drama – but that is important. Meimei is the perfect focus for this story, a cunning child who has not yet let the world go down. When her teacher asks her to write a word on the hike, he draws a flower instead. Her mother (nice game Zhu Zhu) works between two columns – her dark secret, which is a huge invisible weight on her shoulders, and her love for meimei and a willingness fights for her, no matter how difficult or unpleasant or uncomfortable. Wonderful Irving Circle the trio of women as a helen, intellectual writer grumpy that is about their privacy. Dynamic between them are all evoking a lot of good will and drama. Confetti Even makes a bureaucracy about being entered into school as part of the fabric of the film; It’s emotionally and suspended. This drama will be a pleasure for spectators who like movies persevering in the face of the fight, but it is also a little treasure for anyone with an open heart.
