It is not difficult to see how the flying duck orchid (Caleana Major) has earned its name. This orchid variety has dark, reddish-brown flowers that form the outline of a duck’s head, beak, spread wings, body and feet. The flower’s botanical name includes the designation ‘major’ because this orchid has a larger than normal flower, which adds to the appeal of this variety.
