What is the story like?

In the eve of his feather ceremony, the traditional rite of passage, Daunnette Moniz-Reyome takes the viewers to the heart of his umonhone community and shows how the ancient traditions against the current one. In addition to talks with family members, friends and neighbors, a short documentary take a picture of a love picture of the community that is beaten by the centuries of generational trauma and how young women tries to be part of the outside world without losing identity.

Although success was found as a model in publications like Teen Vogue And as an activist, 17-year-old Daunnette Moniz-Reyome always remembering her roots. As a proud member of the Winnebago tribe of Nebraska (also known as Umonhon), take the viewers in the heart of his community with Against electricity, she recorded and directed. Providing insight into ancient traditions in his community, Moniz-Reyome renews a love letter to Umonhon tribe, who also faced huge challenges in the United States.

The subjects of the Moniza-Reyome are open to the tragedies to face, including generational and historical trauma, mental illness and drug abuse and alcohol, but also film ingredients and to show that its community could survive despite the challenges. Moniza-Reyome voice passes as an unstoppable force that should inspire young spectators of any cultural background.
